Four LBs Highlight Latest Signees

Linebackers Darrien Howard, Issac McDonald, d’Vante Henry and Brandon Golson are four of the latest eight signees for West Virginia. Here are some quick bios:

Darrien Howard (Chaminade-Julienne HS, Dayton, OH) – LB – The marquee defensive signee at six-foot-two, 250 pounds, Howard is a sideline to sideline linebacker that seems to be in on every tackle. Howard ranked as the tenth best inside linebacker by Rivals, has a great shot to make the two deep during his freshman season.

Tyler Tezeno (Klein Collins HS, Houston, TX) – OL – Becoming the first ever offensive lineman to be nominated for Offensive Player of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Houston, Tezeno is one of the better interior guys nationally. Before committing to WVU, Tezeno mulled offers from Arizona State, Boise State and LSU.

Dontrill Hyman (Hinds C.C., Raymond, MS) – DT – Best fit as a defensive end in the 3-4, Hyman will at least add size to West Virginia’s defensive line. Also offered by LSU and Mississippi State, Hyman should transition smoothly from the JUCO to FBS ranks.

Isaac McDonald (Champagnat Cathlioc HS, Hialeah, FL) – LB – An original Clemson commit, McDonald, had offers from 14 other schools. At six-foot-six, 205 pounds, he could become a solid cover linebacker for West Virginia in the pass happy Big 12 conference.

Stone Underwood (Copiah-Lincoln C.C., Wesson, MS) – C – Probably the most polished offensive lineman of the class, Underwood has a great shot to step in and play right away at center. He may have to add weight, but projecting right now, he’s at least on the two deep entering 2013.

d’Vante Henry (Arizona Western C.C., Yuma, AZ) – LB – Rated as the 23rd best JUCO prospect by Rivals, Henry had offers from ten other schools. Henry possesses qualities that point to him playing right away, serving as a ‘quick fix’ for the WVU defense.

Brandon Golson (Georgia Military College, Fork Union, VA) –LB – Rated as the 35th best JUCO prospect by Rivals.com, Golson was also offered by Arizona, Kansas, K-State, South Carolina and Texas A&M. Having missed majority of 2012 to injury, it will be interesting to see how he fits in right away after recovering.

Marvin Gross (Dunbar HS, Baltimore, MD) – DE – Vicious off the edge, Gross totaled 33 sacks during his senior year and over 60 sacks in his high school career. A first team all-state in Maryland, Gross could be the perfect outside linebacker that Keith Patterson is looking for.
